I am delighted to share the news of my latest venture: I have been welcomed into the fold of the Observatorio de los Contenidos Audiovisuales (OCA) at the esteemed University of Salamanca [https://www.ocausal.es/es/]. It is an honor to join an institution whose foundations were laid with the prestigious award of the First Research Prize at the VI “Santo Padre Rubio, SJ” awards in 2005, a recognition granted by the University Pontificia Comillas’ Institute of Migration Studies. The reiteration of this honor in 2015 further cemented OCA’s standing in scientific and methodological excellence within the realm of migration knowledge.

The OCA, under the seasoned directorship of Professor Juan José Igartua Perosanz, has been a beacon of research and innovation for years. It is with great enthusiasm that I join a team where my research and contributions to media studies, particularly in collaboration with the COIN project under the expert guidance of Dr. Carlos Arcila Calderón, can align with OCA’s philosophy.
The OCA has only soared higher, achieving recognition as a Research Group of Excellence of Castilla y León (GR319) in 2012, and as a Consolidated Research Unit of Castilla y León (UIC 313) in 2021 by the General Directorate of Universities and Research of the Education Council.
Under the guidance of Professor Igartua, and with the support of public entities such as the European Union, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, and the Junta de Castilla y León, we engage in advanced applied research. Our primary mission remains to empirically dissect and understand media content, usage, processes, and effects across mediums—from traditional press to the ever-evolving sphere of social networks and interactive media.
I am eager to contribute to OCA’s distinguished legacy and to explore new horizons in media research. With a focus on areas such as media processes and effects, communication and education, message analysis, and media consumption and usage, my goal is to further the understanding of media’s role in society alongside a team of renowned experts.
